The Catawba County Sheriff Department is comprised of the following Divisions and Facilities: Civil Processes, Detective Division, Detectives Web Site, Electronic Monitoring System, Narcotics, Lake Patrol , Records, Uniform Patrol, Detention Facilities, and Courts. Programs include the Are you ok? Program, Church Watch, Community Policing, D.A.R.E., Drug TIP Line, Give Anonymous Crime Tip, Project Lifesaver, Safer Seniors, School Resources Officers, Sex Offenders, T.N.T, and Tried.

Each of the seven detectives performs a variety of law enforcement duties. Visiting crime scenes, processing and protecting evidence, interviewing witnesses and suspects make up a large part of the duties of a detective. Detectives use the latest technology in computers and equipment to process crime scenes and evidence.

The Uniform Patrol Division is formed by twenty six officers. This Division provides twenty-four hour law enforcement patrol. This includes residential areas and businesses. The Uniform Patrol Division responsibilities include criminal investigation, criminal process, service calls, and transportation.

The Civil Process Division serves the community by serving all civil papers directed to the Sheriff for service. Cases involve divorces, domestic violence orders, child custody, taking property and returning it to the rightful owners, selling property to satisfy judgments, restraining orders, arrest orders, and many other related matters.
