The Cawtaba County Fire Department is comprised of 18 Fire Stations and forms part of the Fire Marshal's office. The Fire Marshal's Office of Catawba County Concentrates on Fire inspections, Fire investigations, and Fire Prevention & Safety Education. The Fire Marshal's Office is responsible for keeping the Board of Commissioners informed of fire department activities by working with and through the Director of Emergency Services. Other important responsibilities include conduction of the regular fire inspection program with public buildings to improve public safety. Approximately, 85-100 investigations are performed annually.

The Fire Marshal's Office strives to combat the crime of arson and unlawful burning by working closely with state and local law enforcement agencies. Fire Prevention & Safety Education remains a constant goal. The Fire Marshal's Office also assists with Emergency Management needs in Hazardous Incident responses, testing and certification of fire department equipment, and other related functions.
