Catawba
County Humane Society is named under the Humane Society of Catawba
County. This Humane Society is a nonprofit organization. With their dedication to the general
welfare of animals this Humane Society shelters animals and adopts them into caring, responsible
homes; providing humane education and community information services; endeavoring to reduce
animal overpopulation through spay/neuter programs; serving as an advocate for animals and
promoting humane standards; enhancing the relationship between animals and people and
fostering a respect for all life through compassionate actions.
Their mission statement is to make their
community a better place by serving as an advocate for companion animals and that no adoptable
animal will be euthanized. The Catawba County Animal Control and the Humane Society of
Catawba County have formed a task force with to end the Euthanasia of Adoptable Animals within
the County.
The Catawba County Animal Shelter is
located in Newton . This $300,000 facility was designed with automatic feeding and watering
dispenser, separate quarters for male and female dogs, and an area specifically for cats. A
nursery room was design to accommodate smaller animals, puppies and kittens. During periods
of cold weather, the kennels are heating above and below. The areas above the kennels have
steam heated pipes that force warm air downward and steam heated floors where the animals lie.
