Catawba County Health Department Clinical Services include: Adult Health, Children's Health, Communicable Disease, Dental Clinic, Dental Health, Immunization Clinic, STD Clinic, Totally Teens Health Center, Travel Health & Immunizations, Women's Health, and Women's Preventive Health. Over the last 25 years prevention programs have led to declines of more than 50 percent in stroke deaths, 40 percent in coronary heart disease deaths, and a 25 percent reduction in the overall death rate for North Carolina 's children.
The Adult Health Clinic Unit offers the BCCCP (Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program). This Program provides Cervical and Breast Cancer screening, a complete physical examination consisting of Pap smear testing, instruction in self breast examination, clinical breast exam, mammography and hormone replacement therapy. This service is available for women ages 18-64.
The Children's Health Unit is formed by the following services: Child Health, CSC- Child Service Coordination, Dental Clinic, Dental Health, ECST- Early Childhood, Kids In Need Fund, Health Check, School Health, and Totally Teens Health Center. The Dental Clinic provides primary dental care (i.e. exams, cleans, sealants, fillings, extractions, and emergency treatment/trauma) to children according to the income level of the family.
